Since its foundation, the Klangspuren Schwaz festival has been passionately and sustainably committed to the promotion of contemporary music.

Klangspuren Future Lab

Through a wide range of educational formats and art and music appreciation projects Klangspuren creates numerous offerings to attract various target groups. The aim is to strengthen the acceptance of new music at various levels. In 2022, Klangspuren Schwaz successfully initiated Future Lab, a training format aimed at highly talented young musicians and composers who strive for a career as professional musicians. A central objective of Klangspuren Schwaz is to promote the exchange of different approaches through music as a unique, open form of communication and expression. By exploring art and music we hope to jointly embark on journeys that would not otherwise be possible. In the spirit of sustainable promotion, including regional development, Klangspuren establishes long-term connections between young musicians and composers on the one hand and renowned artists from the international contemporary music scene on the other.

Composers Lab
konstellation plus

The Future Lab is based on two pillars: the Composers Lab is aimed at young composers and offers a masterclass taught by outstanding composers and musicians. The application deadline for the Composers Lab 2025 is February 21, 2025. konsTellation plus, the second pillar, is a cooperation with the Tyrolean State Conservatory. It gives young performers the opportunity to work with great artistic figures in order to gain intensive professional training and lasting experience.

Open Lab

Klangspuren Schwaz is launching a new education format this year with the Open Lab, which is aimed at a wide range of target groups - from interested members of the public to composition students. During the festival, artists such as Pierre Jodlowski, Juliet Fraser, Kadijah Pamelia Stickney, Florian Bogner and Hannes Strobl will share insights into their artistic work and creative processes. The programme includes workshops, masterclasses, in-depth introductions, and sound walks, offering the opportunity to experience the world of contemporary music first-hand.

Enter the Archives

What sounds make up our everyday lives? Year 2 at Secondary School II in Schwaz are collecting important everyday sounds with sound researcher Friedemann Dupelius, and using them to create a joint sound archive. Through this project, the pupils are learning to listen more consciously and recognise the importance of sound for the future. The results will be presented in autumn 2025.

Music Experience Week

Music Experience Week: From the outset, Klangspuren's primary goal has been to engage the younger generation by offering projects that stimulate curiosity and innovation. Young people approach new listening experiences with open minds and 'open ears'. With this in mind, Music Experience Week 2025 — inspired by this year's festival — offered children aged 8–12 the chance to explore the relationship between music and technology, and the ongoing developments in these fields.
