Florentin Ginot, Germain Zambi Intimacy (2025), 60’
Double solo for musician and dancer
Florentin Ginot, double bass
Germain Zambi, dance
Yann Bouloiseau, sound design
Arm swings, chest pops, stomps — this is the vocabulary of Krump. This energetic dance form emerged around the year 2000 in the African American community of Los Angeles and is closely linked to resistance against police violence. At the same time, Krump can be understood as a declaration of love for one’s own body, which is meant to be visible in the world — Love is louder!
The Congolese-French dancer Germain Zambi is a star of the Krump scene under the alias JR Sniper. In Intimacy, he meets Florentin Ginot, one of the most versatile double bassists in contemporary music. In a double solo with moments of total fusion, Germain Zambi dances to traditional music from Galicia, Ireland, Scotland, and France, which Ginot subtly enriches with electronic elements and the sounds of the hurdy-gurdy. The artistic languages may come from different origins — but what unites them is a freedom of structure, a focused presence in the moment, and a poetry of the body.
