Tamara Miller Aquí nacen; poco importa dónde o cómo
[They are born here; where or how matters little.]
Concert installation for the Rabalderhaus Schwaz (2026), world premiere
Commissioned by Klangspuren Schwaz
Julia Sanjurjo, Ty Bouque, voice
Katharina Kurz, Spiros Laskarides, trumpet
Pablo Santamaria Navarro, percussion
The present is permeated by traces of the past. Hardly any place in Schwaz bears witness to this as impressively as the Rabalderhaus, which dates back to the mining era. Here, Chilean composer Tamara Miller is creating an installation-based musical performance in which timelines blur. Miller’s starting point is the lingering imprint of colonialism, which to this day shapes lands, cities, and the psyche of their inhabitants.
Speakers emit sounds of Latin American metropolises, Música criolla — a blend of indigenous and Spanish influences — as well as contemporary pop sounds that only appear to be unfettered. Five musicians (vocals, trumpets, percussion) perform at sound islands distributed throughout the venue. The audience’s voices and footsteps are recorded live, digitally processed, and played back into the space. With every walk-through, the house sounds different, and a network of musical relationships unfolds between then, just-a-moment-ago, and the here-and-now.
