COMPOSERS LAB
09/16–09/23/2025

Application open now!

The Klangspuren Composers Lab (09/16/2025–09/23/2025 in Schwaz, Tyrol) is part of Klangspuren Academy’s “Future Lab”, a format initiated in 2022 that is aimed at highly talented international and local composers pursuing a professional career. With annually changing instructors and musical partners, the festival provides eight selected candidates with the opportunity for encounter, exchange and development. In 2025, the tutors for the Composers Lab are once again outstanding musical personalities: the composers Chaya Czernowin, Israel/USA, Johannes Maria Staud, Austria, and Vienna-based Studio Dan with conductor Lin Liao. With the expertise of these pedagogically trained instructors, the participants will gain new insights and perspectives on pieces they will be writing specifically for Studio Dan. The Composers Lab will provide a reality check under excellent rehearsal conditions.

Participation in the Klangspuren Composers Lab will be determined by an international competition. Eight participants will be nominated in a two-stage selection process. There is no age limit for the applicants. The participants’ work will be premiered by Studio Dan at the Klangspuren Schwaz festival on 23 September 2025.

A limited number of scholarships ensure that the project is accessible to all individuals who meet the requirements of their respective fields. In addition to professional qualification, we expressly encourage the inclusion of cultural and stylistic diversity and gender equality among our musicians and composers, as these aspects enrich the musical discourse and unite.

Applications must be submitted from January 22 to February 21, 2025.
