COMPOSERS LAB
The Klangspuren Composers Lab in Schwaz, Tyrol, is part of the Klangspuren Academy's "Future Lab" format, which was initiated in 2022 and aimed at highly talented local and international composers pursuing a professional career. With instructors and musical partners changing annually, the festival provided seven selected candidates with the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and develop. In 2025, the tutors for the Composers Lab were outstanding musical personalities once again: composers Justė Janulytė (Lithuania) and Johannes Maria Staud (Austria), and the Vienna-based ensemble Studio Dan, conducted by Lin Liao. Under the guidance of these instructors, who were trained in pedagogy, the participants gained new insights and perspectives on pieces they had written specifically for Studio Dan. The Composers Lab offered an opportunity to gain valuable experience in excellent rehearsal conditions.
Participation in the Klangspuren Composers Lab was determined by an international competition. Seven participants were selected through a two-stage process. Studio Dan premiered the participants' work at the Klangspuren Schwaz festival on 23 September 2025.
Participants 2025: Agustín Castellón Molina, Carmel Curiel, Tina Geroldinger, Patrik Kako, Emanuele Savagnone, Yixie Shen, Ziyi Tao.
